2021 Recital FAQ

How do I use my Ticket Priority Code?

Families with performing students will receive a link to our ticket site that will include a priority code. That priority code will give you early access to the site as well as a voucher that can be redeemed at checkout. On the site you'll select "front of house" or "back of house" tickets (the Long Center has a main floor and balcony). If you have a student in multiple shows, select another show by clicking the button that reads "ADD SEATS FOR ANOTHER SHOW" to choose your seats for the next recital show. Once you have chosen all the seats you need, you'll click the button that reads "BUY SELECTED SEATS." After you click "CONTINUE WITH CHECKOUT" on the following screen, this is where you will enter your ticket voucher code. The value of the voucher will be subtracted from the total before you complete your purchase.

What is my dancer's hair is too short to be put in a bun?

No worries! If hair is too short for it all to be pulled back, please pull the front back so that it is not in their eyes while performing.

What time will the doors open for the auditorium for the audience?

Doors will open 30 minutes prior to showtime for the audience to find their seats and get ready for a great show!

How are classes assigned to each show?

Assigning classes to each recital is a long planning process. We start by accommodating dancers in multiple classes and then try to put siblings in the same shows. The tricky part is making sure we do not have too many families in one show (or we will run out of seats) or shows that are too long (as many parents enjoy our shorter shows). We have a recital planning software that helps us plan our shows with the least amount of conflicts. However, sometimes families will be assigned to multiple shows. Siblings in multiple shows is a common practice for many dance studios. More shows = more fun and memories for the dancers!

How long is the recital?

We anticipate each show being approximately 1 hour.

Is there a dress rehearsal?

Typically we offer a dress rehearsal, however with COVID restrictions, we have made the choice to help our students prepare the best they can during their weekly class times. Instructors will talk students through how to enter and exit the stage, routines will be rehearsed without the mirrors, and we will implement a numbering system on the studio floors that will match the stage floor on recital day.

Who cares for my child backstage?

Our qualified, background-checked staff assist, coordinate and supervise backstage for the duration of the show. Due to space restrictions this year, after students have finished their performances, our staff will bring the students to the auditorium to be seated in the performers section at the back of the main floor.

Can I take photos and videotape the performance?

This is an important memory, one you will always cherish! For that reason, we hire a professional photographer and videographer for all shows. Phone and flash photography and videography can be a distraction to our dancers as well as parents sitting behind you. We ask all audience members to refrain from taking pictures or filming for the safety of our dancers and the enjoyment of the other members of the recital audience.

Will pictures be taken in costumes?

Yes! Each year, we coordinate a professional photo shoot with Lausch Photography. Our professional photographer and team will make sure you get beautiful, high quality pictures in dance poses. A range of packages are available for purchase. More details coming soon!

Do we have to wear makeup?

We believe that parents should be able to decide what is appropriate for their dancer based on their parenting style. That said please be aware that dancers without any makeup on may appear washed out under stage lighting. Stage lights are very bright and the best way to look natural under them is to rely on a little makeup. We recommend at least a warm blush and red lipstick. If your dancer is very young, keep in mind the recital is a once-a-year event, and it feels a lot to your dancer like playing dress up :)

When and where is the Recital?

The 2021 Recital will be held May 8 at the Long Center for the Performing Arts located at 111 N 6th St, Lafayette.

What time is the Recital?

We hold multiple recitals and each class is assigned to a specific show. This year there will be four shows to keep the number of students and audience members within the facility capacity in order to practice social distancing. Show times are: Show #1: 10:00 am Show #2: 12:30 pm Show #3: 3:30 pm Show #4: 6:00 pm

Can I use my ticket voucher toward the live stream link for someone outside of my household?

Yes! You will want to purchase all tickets and live streams in a single transaction to use the voucher on the total balance. Once you have your receipt, there is an option next to the live-stream details that will allow you to "Watch Now" at showtime and Transfer additional links to other parties. Do not click the "Watch Now" button at all - pushing that button captures your IP address so it can not be viewed in another location. Simply forward your receipt email to the person who will be using the live stream.

What are the check-in procedures?

Each class will be given a check-in time that is within 30 minutes of their show start time. Dancers will enter through the Pavilion doors (to the left of the main entrance) to be checked in and sat with their class. Parents will enter through the main doors and find their seats.

What are the post-show procedures?

At the conclusion of each show, all audience members will be ushered out row by row and asked to move toward the exit to maintain social distancing. One parent per dancer will remain in their seats and listen for instructions on picking up their dancer.

What is the mask policy at recital?

Masks are required for everyone upon entering the building. Dancers are not required to wear a mask during their onstage performance. Immediately before stepping on the stage, performers will place their mask in a designated holder, specific to each individual dancer.

Do children age 2 and under need a ticket or can they just sit on my lap during the show?

Due to COVID restrictions, everyone in the building will need to have a ticket purchased, including children of any age, regardless if they will occupy the seat.

Can I purchase the Live Stream on recital day?

Yes! The Live Stream will be available to purchase through our ticketing site on recital day.

If I don't need to purchase 4 tickets, can I give another dance friend access to the tickets I don't need?

Unfortunately because of COVID restrictions you can not share your max four tickets. All of the tickets in your purchase will be seated together therefor when you purchase your tickets they should only be for your family members. We know that all of our families will not need to use all four of their tickets, so we do expect that there will be additional tickets available for purchase after May 5. If you have specific questions about this, please feel free to contact us.
