class placement

Dance students are placed in class according to their age, ability, and experience. One or all may apply when placing the dancers in an appropriate class level.

class observation

Our dance classes are independent classes, meaning that the students enter the classroom without parents to be able to fully engage with the instructor.  For classes with younger students, we will invite parents into the classroom at the end of class for a mini performance.  This allows the students to gain confidence by performing what they have learned and it assures parents that students are getting a great dance education at Studio b!

Click here to see the dress code for each dance class. Fitness participants should wear comfortable clothing that allow for movement for fitness classes. Clothing with symbols or slogans which maybe considered derogatory is not allowed. Please, no midriff-bearing tops.

For your convenience, the class tuition for the Fall and Spring sessions is divided into four monthly payments. The first month’s payment is due at the time of enrollment. The remaining three payments will be processed automatically the first Monday of the month. There is no registration fee at Studio b and there is no performance fee during the Fall Session.

Fees for fitness classes are to be paid in full, upfront.

We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, cash, and check made payable to "Studio b."  If a check is returned to Studio b due to insufficient funds, payment to cover the check amount plus a $25.00 returned check fee, will be required with a money order, cashiers check, or cash within 3 days of notification. If it happens more than once future payments must be remitted either by credit card, money order, or in cash.

performance opportunities

We provide two opportunities each year for our students to perform: the Winter Showcase and the Spring Recital.

Winter Showcase

Every year we finish our Fall Session of classes with a fun and informal program— the Winter Showcase.  It is held at the St. James School gym. The Winter Showcase is a great opportunity for us to come together as a community and help those in need.  The admission for the Winter Showcase is five or more non-perishable food items per person to be donated to the St. James Food Pantry. Each student enrolled in our fall session will receive a free Studio b t-shirt to wear for the Winter Showcase performance!

Spring Recital

We end our Spring Session with our fully-staged, professional Spring Recital at the Rohrman Performing Arts Center at Lafayette Jeff High School.  This is an exciting and rewarding part of the season that everyone looks forward to!  We encourage all dancers to participate. Please read the information below to help you be prepared.  (Please note that technique classes such as leaps and turns and ballet barre classes do not perform in the Spring recital.)   A dress rehearsal for the recital is held the day before recital for all performers. See our recital guide here.

snow days

In the event that the Lafayette School Corporation cancels classes due to the weather, and the roads are still not driveable by 3 p.m., Studio b will cancel all classes for the evening. Class cancellations will be posted on Facebook and posted on the front page of our website. Canceled dance classes will be made up at a later date.

make-up classes

Make-up classes are only offered when the studio closes on designated holidays or because of weather-related issues and/or other unforseen circumstances. We do not allow students to attend other classes for make-up purposes. Due to having multiple instructors and each class having its own unique choreography, this policy gives our students a consistent experience and avoids potential confusion. We appreciate your understanding regarding this matter.

Studio b dance and fitness classes will run as scheduled except for the following holiday closures: New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Easter, Mother's Day, Memorial Day, Father's Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas.

class cancellation

There may be unforeseen situations when a class will be cancelled.  We will try to notify the parent or participant via email as far in advance as possible.  Dance classes canceled by Studio b will be made up at later date at the end of semester.

Dancers ages 7+ may seek addiitonal instruction time with our staff if desired. Private lessons may be scheduled with one of our staff members at their availability and if studio space is open.
