phrase that inspires you: b • family
I believe that the most successful atmosphere for growth is one full of support, encouragement, dedication, passion, respect, and love. This happens when everyone in the room views the others as members of a family. A family atmosphere isn't without hard work or constructive criticism, but the main focus is to build each other up. There is nothing better than dancing along side people you truly care about. Love dance. Love each other. b • family!
when did you begin dancing?
I began my dance training at Dancer's Edge in Marion, IN, where I studied contemporary, ballet, jazz, hip hop, and tap. I was a member of Dancer's Edge Company for ten years and traveled to competitions and conventions across the nation. During that time I worked with remarkable teachers and choreographers such as Brooke Pierotti, Sonya Tayeh, Chris Jacobson, Lauren Adams, Andy Pellick, Justin Giles, and Nick Dinicolangelo among others.
After High School attended Indiana University to get a degree in Contemporary Dance. I graduated in May 2017. There I took courses in modern, ballet, improvisation, composition, pedagogy, movement analysis, and dance history. While in college I had the opportunity to perform master works by Larry Keigwin, Kyle Abraham, and Andrea Miller along with many works by IU faculty and students. I have also performed works with Phoenix Rising Dance Company and Stephanie Nugent Dance Company.
I got my first taste of teaching dance in high school when I assisted ballet classes at Dancer's Edge. My next teaching opportunity came in the summer of 2016 when I worked as a teaching fellow with Hubbard Street's Youth Dance Program. That summer is what sealed my desire to teach. The year after that fellowship, my senior year of college, I taught a few classes at Windfall Dance Studio and my love for teaching gradually grew. I am so excited to be teaching for Studio b and sharing my love for dance with the wonderful students here!
