Costumes, Shoes & Tights

Costumes!  The best part of recital!  A costume will be ordered for each dancer unless we are notified by January 24 that a student will not performing.  The costume deposit is $40 and will be processed on January 25.  The balance will be processed on March 15 and will be $15 - $45.  The costume fee includes tights and all accessories.

In order for each class to look polished and professional onstage, a pair of the required tights is included with your costume. We ask that parents purchase the correct color and style of shoes for each class.  All dance shoes should be purchased at Studio b.

Each student will receive 2 complimentary tickets with payment of their recital fee.  These complimentary tickets can be used for one of the recital shows.  Promotional codes will be emailed to each family and will be entered upon checkout through the online ticket ordering system. You can easily purchase more tickets for family and friends on the site. Complimentary tickets and additional ticket purchases should be completed in one transaction. The promotional code will reduce the cost at checkout for two tickets. Tickets are $13 for adults and $10 for children ages 12 and under. Remaining tickets will be for sale at the door: $18 for adults and $15 for children (cash or check only for tickets sold on recital day). Purchase tickets online here.

Hair & Makeup

All performers will wear their hair in a bun on the crown of their head - one hairstyle for all students makes it easier for students in multiple performances.

All dancers should arrive for both the dress rehearsal and the recital wearing the first costume they will perform in and with hair and makeup done. Our online video tutorial has step by step instructions to help you and your dancer.

We would like all dancers to wear some makeup to not appear washed out onstage. Black mascara and eye shadow in the shades of plum or gray are recommended. Cheeks should be a pretty pink with a burgundy/red lip. Please no fuchsia or very bright red lipstick. Older dancers’ makeup should be applied heavier for stage. Remember, the lights are very bright and without makeup, faces become washed out from afar.

Bun kits are now available at the studio! All you need in one kit for recital! You can purchase them at the studio.

Bun Kits

$13 +tax  includes:

  • bun former

  • hairnet

  • hair ties

  • open bobby pins

  • closed bobby pins

If you only need the former or net:

  • bun former: $6 +tax

  • hair nets: $3.50 + tax (package of 3)

Recital Memory Books

Give a shout out to your favorite dancer in this year’s recital memory book! This full color, full size program, is a great way to highlight your dancer or give them a shout out.  It's also a great way to advertise your business. Ad sponsors will also be listed on our website. You can review the pricing and guidelines for submitting your ad here. Ad art and shout-out text are due by March 15.

Submit your "shout-out" online through our shout-out builder form.

Recital Photos

We take individual and group photos on dress rehearsal day for the convenience of our dancers and parents. Each performing group will take their photos and then make their way to the stage for their rehearsal time.

May 19 Dress Rehearsal/Photo Schedule (coming soon)

Show # 1

Show # 2

Show # 3

All dancers participating in the show are required to attend the onstage dress rehearsal.

Each class is given a specific time for their rehearsal and class photos – students are not required to stay for the entire rehearsal but are certainly welcome!

Students should report to the check in tables at Jeff High School at their scheduled check in time on dress rehearsal day and 10 min prior to check in time on recital day. On recital day, parents of students ages 6 and under will receive a wrist band with your child's name on it.  The wristband must be presented when picking up your child after the show.

All performers should come to the dress rehearsal and recital fully dressed in their recital costume.  If you are in more than one performance, please come dressed for your first rehearsal costume/photo session and bring the rest of your costumes (don't forget to label your costumes!).

Recital Photos: Ed Lausch of Lausch Photography will be taking photos during our dress rehearsal. Individual photos will be taken of each student and a group photo will be taken of each class.  Group photos will not be retaken, so please don't be late to your photo time!

Photo order forms will be distributed at the studio by the week of April 7. Please return them by April 30.

Photos and video recording are allowed during dress rehearsal only - not the recital.

A beautifully recorded recital DVD gives your dancer the opportunity to see what the audience sees. It also allows dancers to show off their performances to family and friends who may not have been able to attend the show. DVD’s are $35 each show. DVDs can be purchased through the parent portal online store.

Recital DVDs will be available to pick up starting June 3.

To be fair to all, there can be no photographs taken and no video cameras or cell phone cameras used during the actual performance of our Spring recital. If you wish to take on-stage video or pictures of your performer, you may take them at the dress rehearsal. Cameras can block the view of others and be extremely disruptive. The light emitted from cell phone cameras is distracting to everyone behind you.

We are thrilled to hold our recital in such a beautiful, state of the art facility!  The Rohrman Performing Arts Center has comfortable seating, plenty of parking, ample space for performers backstage, several dressing rooms, and a large stage to fit our big groups.  And we are able to show the recital on a screen for the students backstage so they won't have to miss what is happening on stage!
