About Competition Dance Team

The Studio b Competition Team is our highest level of commitment and provides the fastest growth in dancers' technical abilities.  The competition team is made up of dancers with a strong focus on dance and a higher level of commitment to the Studio b Dance Team. Dancers interested should have great class attendance & etiquette as well as have some prior dance experience. These dancers will have fun, grow as a dancer and gain valuable life experiences like how to work through nerves in front of an audience and how to work in a team environment. Dancers on the competition team will also have opportunities for feature routines with solos, duos or trios.

Age/Requirements
Competition dancers are ages 6+ with some prior dance experience.

Commitment

• Summer intensive (June 6-9)

• Weekly team ballet class during fall and spring sessions

• Weekly team technique class during fall and spring sessions

• Weekly group routine class(es)

• Full team production class/rehearsal (one weekly class by section & scheduled full team rehearsals during season)

• Enrollment in additional style rec classes specific to assigned competition routines (i.e. tap, acro)

Performances

Competition team performances include our Team Competition Preview and May recital. Other community opportunities may include the Lafayette Christmas Parade, Purdue basketball game, etc. The tentative performance schedule and expectations are subject to change.

Competition

SbDT Competition dancers will represent Studio b in three spring competitions and a summer nationals competition.

Audition Information

Dancers will audition and be placed in their performance groups. Auditions will be held May 31 - June 2 for the 2022-2023 season. Email Cristin@StudiobLafayette.com to register for auditions.
