We all have our share of challenges in life, and the way we face those situations is up to us. We get to choose our attitude at all times. I choose to b•happy which for me can also mean peaceful, content, and grateful. I find peace in my faith, I'm content with what I have, and I'm grateful for my family, my many friends, and for the opportunity to serve others through Studio b.
What inspired you to open Studio b?
At age four, I was introduced to dance through lessons at McAllister Recreation Center in Lafayette. I was hooked! When I was 5, I auditioned for a role in the Columbian Park Summer Youth Musical Theatre program. I was involved in the program ever summer for ten years. Through it I developed a love of performing and the performing arts.
Raised by a single mom with three children, studio lessons were expensive and not an option. So I taught myself everything I could - I would even meet up with friends who took studio lessons and ask them to teach me what they learned in class. While in school I put myself in every possible performing program I could: show choir, theatre, cheerleading, dance team - you name it!
In college, I was on the Purdue Rowing Crew as a coxswain, which is when I developed an interest in health and physical fitness. During my sophomore year I saw an opportunity to audition for the Purdue Dance Team, I knew I couldn't pass that up! Being selected for the PDT was definitely a highlight for me! It also opened doors of opportunities to help other who shared my passion. I began coaching the Jeff High School JV Cheerleading Squad. I had a blast and took the team to first place with the overall high school of all age levels at a local competition. I was also the head coach for the Central Catholic Dance Team and the Harrison High School Raiderettes, and have choreographed routines for Benton Central, Jeff High School and the Purdue Golduster Dance Team.
After graduating from Purdue, I utilized my degree in Communications in several marketing, public relations and advertising positions. All of those experiences partnered with my love of dance led me to fulfill my life-long dream of opening a dance studio. A driving goal behind opening a studio has always been to provide a place for any person, an age, who shares my passion of dance, fitness and the performing arts. I'm very proud of the Studio b scholarship program that is in development and one of the main reasons I have always wanted to open a studio - to have the opportunity to give back to the community that inspired me and gave me a chance.
What keeps you motivated?
I am motivated and inspired by the smiling faces I see in class and the stories of how our dance and fitness classes have changed and enriched someone’s life physically, mentally and emotionally – with confidence, better health and well-being!
A note from Brooke
I appreciate the opportunity to serve this community through Studio b!
I would like to thank my husband, Jason for supporting me every step of the way and for all of his hard work to renovate our studio spaces. And thank you to my wonderful daughters, for adding so much happiness in our lives!
Thank you for taking the time to learn a little more about me and please take a moment to meet the rest of the incredible Studio b staff. They are the reason this studio is so amazing!
